Croissant.im LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the BLURK privacy software. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our service. By using BLURK, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, name (optional), and a hashed version of your password.
Usage data: We collect the list of website patterns you configure for blurring (e.g., "slack.com"), which browsers you have connected, and when the service was last used.
What we do NOT collect: We do not collect the content of your browser tabs, screenshots of your screen, keystrokes, or any data from the websites you visit. Blur state is managed locally on your device via a local relay server running on port 3099 — no browsing data is transmitted to our servers.
We use your information to: (a) provide and maintain the service; (b) authenticate your identity across your devices; (c) sync your blur rules between the desktop app and browser extensions; (d) send transactional emails such as account verification and password resets; (e) process subscription payments via Stripe.
Your account data is stored in a secure database. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plaintext. Your blur unlock password is stored as a scrypt hash locally on your device and as a bcrypt hash on our servers. We use industry-standard security practices, but no system is completely secure. In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users as required by law.
Stripe: We use Stripe to process subscription payments. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data. We do not store your full credit card details.
Resend: We use Resend to send transactional emails. Your email address is transmitted to Resend solely for the purpose of delivering emails related to your account.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it longer.
Depending on your location, you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; object to or restrict processing of your data; request a portable copy of your data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@croissant.im.
We use session cookies only for authentication purposes (to keep you logged in). We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
BLURK is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us immediately.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by posting a notice on our website. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
